‘I am the river’ was the third phase of the DreamBody project realized by the international dance group InMotion dance traces. The DreamBody project focused on the investigation of the relationship between landscape, storytelling and dance-making. The material (stories, words, images, videos etc.) that was gathered during the previous two phases of this project through dedicated, passionate and sustained work from the whole group had the unique chance to mature and be lifted to another level of investigation.

‘I am the river’ therefore focused on full embodiment of the experience and introduced the challenge of interdisciplinary exploration to integrate and develop the existing material, as well as artistic skills of the participants. For this purpose, InMotion dance traces invited various artists from the fields of visual arts, poetry, video making and life music for a joint collaboration envisioned and guided by the artistic director Marisa Grande.

Collaborating artists:

Mark Verdoes (NL) – Wageningen-based visual artist contributing to the first phase of the Dreambody project with his story about the river. Having met and interviewed him on the theme of landscape and river from our specific artistic view point we have discovered a common view on artistic process.

Raul Anderson (MX-NL) Amsterdam-based film and video maker involved with the project from the beginning capturing images and stories at many different levels. His images will inform and feed the research project and will be processed to create a connective line – a dramaturgy – that can integrate and restitute the many layers of the project.
